PRIVATE PreK – 12

Bellevue, WA

Building on a track-record of high student achievement and success (U.S. News & World Report rated both BASIS Tucson and BASIS Scottsdale as two of the top five schools in the nation), the Arizona-based private school provider with facilities in New York, California, and Virginia is opening its first school in the Pacific Northwest.
This new facility, located in the city of Bellevue, will convert an existing office building to a new 800-student Pre-K through 12 private school. The project will completely renovate the existing building; construct a new gymnasium, black-box theater, outdoor social terrace, and entrance canopy; and fully redevelop the site to provide new outdoor play and social spaces including a turf-field, and new parking and drop-off facilities for parents and buses.

The school is zoned by age range—pre-K and kindergarten on the ground floor, lower school on first and second floors, and high school on the third floor—providing age-appropriate spaces for all students. Additionally, the architecture promotes appropriate connections and collaborations between age groups in order to offer upper school students leadership and mentoring opportunities while affording lower school students opportunities for inspiration and an understanding of what comes next.

Extended learning areas, eddies, small group collaboration spaces, and an outdoor terrace located atop the entrance canopy provide students with a variety of intimate and expansive spaces for casual gathering and collaboration. These informal spaces complement the upper and lower dining areas, outdoor play areas, athletic fields, and gymnasium, providing students with large spaces to come together, eat, and play.
