Tigard High School was an 1800+ student, grade 9-12 school that had been present in the community for over 50 years. The existing building dated from the 1950s with later additions and other site improvements. Tigard High School is recognized as an outstanding educational institution that educates students to be caring, reflective, and contributing citizens in a diverse society. However, the existing facility had numerous additions made to it over the years resulting in a somewhat sprawling main building that faced significant functional and educational challenges.
The multi-phase remodel and addition project included significant renovation of a two-story classroom wing to become new general science and chemistry classrooms, creation of a new media center, and addition of a two-story central academic core. The design enables the school to convert to a “Small Schools” model, improves circulation, and consolidates the footprint of the building.
